Things to do in Naxos
A short list, written by people who actually live here.
Walk the kastro
The Venetian castle at the top of Naxos Town is small, free to walk, and the best orientation you’ll get. Do this on your first evening.
Spend a day at sea
Our bias is obvious, but the south coast of Naxos and the Small Cyclades channel are genuinely only visible from the water. See our tours.
Drive up the mountains
Apeiranthos, Halki, and Filoti are three very different mountain villages. A half-day drive is enough to see all three. Stop for lunch in Halki.
Swim at Plaka
A long beach day is half the point of the island.
Small things worth the time
The Temple of Demeter at Sangri. The emery mine museum at Apeiranthos. Kitron tasting in Halki. The Portara at sunset, but from the quieter side.
